Who is AESA?
The Abren Enhun Support Association is an organization formed by Ethiopian immigrants living in the United States. Its members work in various government and private institutions while actively contributing to the social and economic development of their communities. As immigrants, they face challenges in balancing their Ethiopian heritage with their new lives in America—especially for their children, who are either born or growing up as U.S. citizens. AESA believes that strong families and organized communities are key to overcoming challenges such as losing touch with their Ethiopian culture, language, and identity. By working together, they aim to prevent social issues like youth conflicts and behavioral problems while promoting education, cultural awareness, and safety. One of their key initiatives includes supporting children’s academic success through an annual student association’s day every June to recognize and encourage students for their hard work & success in their academic achievements. Ultimately, AESA serves as a bridge to help Ethiopian immigrants adapt to American society while preserving their heritage, fostering unity, and ensuring the next generation thrives both academically and culturally. Through community collaboration, education, and cultural programs, AESA strives to build a stronger, more connected Ethiopian diaspora in America.
